Trampoline and Tumbling

T&T gymnastics is an event that falls under the gymnastics discipline known as T&T or Trampoline and Tumbling. Much like in artistic gymnastics where the athletes compete on several different events (bars, beam, floor, vault, etc.), T&T athletes compete on trampoline, rod floor tumbling (power tumbling), and double mini trampoline.

Power tumbling is performed on elevated spring runways that help tumblers propel themselves higher than a basketball goal as they demonstrate speed, strength, and skill while executing a series of acrobatic maneuvers. Top-level contenders will perform explosive somersaults with multiple flips and twists.

Power tumblers also perform skills on the trampoline. Regulation competitive trampolines (Euro Trampolines) are similar to standard backyard trampolines, but they are designed to provide a higher, more powerful bounce. Competitive trampoline routines look effortless as the athletes fly high into the air, sometimes performing multiple skills within each bounce.

  • Lower-level trampolinists typically perform and are judged on one trampoline routine.

  • Higher-level trampolinists may perform two routines, depending upon their level and each meet’s rules.
